Legendary Singer Diana Ross is quite impressed by the singers of the present generation…her favorite being Mariah Carey. Like a true legend, she is willing to share her experiences and the tricks of the trade with the young guns who would like to seek her assistance.

Apparently Mariah Carey also sought her help and Ross was more than happy to help her out. Diana Ross said,

“I enjoy Beyoncé’s music and admire Alicia Keyes, Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. I’m ready to give advice and support to any of them that wants that. Because Mariah used to ask when I would spend time with her, I am available to discuss what it takes.”

“I am an extremely organised person. I think I have a good work ethic,” she adds.

Of course, Mariah needs some lessons on good work ethics… we all know how her tantrums became a reason for the organisers to scrap her concert in Singapore.

Now all of us sit down and listen all day and night or for that matter whenever we can to Mariah Carey’s music… but have you ever wondered why she was named Mariah Carey? I mean for all i know she could ahve been named Cindy or Barbara or Betty or anything else.. but why “Mariah”??

Mariah Carey was actually named after a musical..! Or at least sort of… It was all her mother’s idea. At the time of Mariah’s birth, there was a popular musical by Lerner & Loewe called “Paint Your Wagon” (1969) starring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood.

This musical of course was a huge success after its release in 1969 and had a song called “they call the wind Mariah” and incidentally, this song was her mother, Patricia’s favourite and VOILA…!!! Mariah Carey was christned..!!

Well.. firstly, Mariah Carey was born in Long Island, New York on March 27, 1970. Her father is Black Venezuelan-American and mother is White Irish-American. Her debut album “Mariah Carey” reached the No. 1 spot on August 4th 1990.

Ever since then Mariah has been on a roll creating music loved by one and all.. but in the past 5 years, Mariah has been facing some bad luck… especially with the MTV music awards.

The poor girl has been nominated soooo… many times but has hardly won anything.. In fact even this year.. Mariah was nominated for 3 awards but unfotunately got none.

“We have stocked up all the Christmas albums of famous artists related to Christmas and they are doing pretty good in sales. Since Christmas is coming closer, there is rush of customers in our Christmas section that we have built,” said a storekeeper.

“I’m confused which one to buy as there are so many varieties available here. If I had money, I would’ve bought all of them! But I prefer Mariah Carey’s Christmas songs. She really sings well,” said a customer.

She is the biggest-selling artists of all time, she is America’s official DIVA in every sense and with her latest album ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’ she is on cloud nine.

Other starlet might just do anything to sing a duet with her, while there is one person who thinks that nothing can be worse than singing a duet with the Diva.

Tunde Baiyewu, the former Lighthouse Family star, whose claim to fame was his 1995 smash hit single Lifted - said:

“I’d have to say no to Mariah if she asked me to do a duet with her. I mean, we’d just want different things. She’d want to sing love songs and I wouldn’t. We just wouldn’t have anything in common. I’d rather sing with someone who is not really big and famous.”

Oh c’mon Tunde…Mariah is a very versatile singer…she ain’t all about Love songs only!

How ironic I say… She is a good singer no doubt so she should have insured her vocal chords but ironically she insured her body…which is in no way attractive or graceful.

After Carmen Electra offering tips to look sexy…we have the diva Mariah Carey doing the same. Her manager, Benny Medina, is said to be pitching a lifestyle-type book cum pseudo memoir titled 500 Hours.

It is revealed that the book is titled ‘500 hours’ as it talks about the hours Mariah ostensibly spent in beauty school, where she went just for the heck of it, and she now intends to turn her experience into literature…i mean tips precisely.

How ironic! The woman who needs a make-over herself is gonna talk about beauty and fashion to others.
