Butterfly is considered to be Mariah Carey’s most personal album ever. I have always been wondering as to what was it about this album that allowed Mariah Carey to pour out all her emotions.

Whatever it was…but it gave Mariah that Diva status she banks on now … and a hit album to her fans

Legendary Singer Diana Ross is quite impressed by the singers of the present generation…her favorite being Mariah Carey. Like a true legend, she is willing to share her experiences and the tricks of the trade with the young guns who would like to seek her assistance.

Apparently Mariah Carey also sought her help and Ross was more than happy to help her out. Diana Ross said,

“I enjoy Beyoncé’s music and admire Alicia Keyes, Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. I’m ready to give advice and support to any of them that wants that. Because Mariah used to ask when I would spend time with her, I am available to discuss what it takes.”

“I am an extremely organised person. I think I have a good work ethic,” she adds.

Of course, Mariah needs some lessons on good work ethics… we all know how her tantrums became a reason for the organisers to scrap her concert in Singapore.

Mariah’s Christmas gift to her fans was her hit single “All I Want For Christmas Is You” which seems to be the ultimate Christmas classic.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” was first heard as a key track on Mariah Carey’s Merry Christmas album. Originally released way back in 1994…but seems to be still fresh in people’s memories like it was yesterday.

The popularity of Merry Christmas soar so high that it went on to become one of the top-selling holiday collections of all time, selling more than 11 million copies worldwide. The album is currently #24 on the SoundScan Digital Albums chart and #13 on the Top Catalog Albums chart.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” is currently #9 on the SoundScan Top 200 Hot Digital Tracks chart.

Thats quite an achievement!

Mariah Carey has been going round the globe with her Emancipation of Mimi tour, which has been one the highest selling records for Universal Music. You’d be surprised to know that Mariah didn’t really think that the album would get released.

“For a while i thought it would never get released as a single cause a lot of people thought it was too “urban” and not pop enough. But it shows me sometimes you just have to trust your own instincts,” she revealed in an interview.

Well…thats right Mariah…even we are glad that you trusted your instincts!

Mariah Carey is suing ONE Group Investments Private Limited for cancelling a Hong Kong concert that she had prepared for. The Company claims that they were forced to scrap the concert scheduled on October 28th due to the Diva’s unreasonable last minute tantrums and poor ticket sales.

Carey’s legal team is asking ONE Group to reimburse the pop star $1 million for the breach of contractual obligations and for the preparation the singer did before the show was scrapped!

Hong Kong fans of U.S. pop diva Mariah Carey have been left disappointed after a row between her management and promoters ended with a planned weekend concert being cancelled.

Carey’s manager says a financial default by a promoter, and not poor ticket sales or demands by the pop star, caused the cancellation of her weekend show in Hong Kong.

Carey, who recently finished her nationwide “Adventures of Mimi” tour, was to perform Saturday at an outdoor space in Hong Kong. It was to be the last stop on the tour after performances in Japan this week, her manager, Benny Medina, said on Thursday.

But in a posting on its Web site, promoter Concerts Asia said the Hong Kong date was canceled because the 36-year-old singer had made “specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable and not with the best interests of Hong Kong, us and also the fans.”

The promoter also said it had only sold 4,000 tickets, despite a “substantial” advertising campaign.

However, Medina disputed those claims. He said 8,000 tickets had been sold, and blamed the cancellation on the tour promoter’s failure to pay Carey money due to her.

“If there were only 10 people in this venue, and this particular promoter … had fulfilled his contractual obligations, we would be there. Mariah Carey loves her fans in Southeast Asia,” Medina said.

Mariah Carey’s Hong Kong concert this weekend has been cancelled after the singer made a string of unreasonable diva demands, IMDb.com reports.

Promoters are furious at Carey’s requests but refuse to divulge what they are. However, they insist that sluggish ticket sales also contributed to the cancellation.

In a statement posted on their website, Concerts Asia says,

“As promoters of the Mariah Carey Hong Kong concert, we have decided to cancel the event effective immediately due to both the poor response of public ticket sales and also due to specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable and not with the best interests of Hong Kong, us and also the fans.”

The company claims that only 4,000 tickets have been sold despite a huge advertising campaign.

Mariah Carey’s much “emancipated” concert ..The Adventures Of Mimi finally reached it’s finale on the 10th of october after creating waves for around 1 1/2 months throughout America. The concert tagged ‘THE ADVENTURES OF MIMI The Voice…….came as the perfect continnum to her superhit album ‘The Emancipation of Mimi’.

The grand finale for the concert took place on tuesday night in the US airways centre in phoenix . Mariah’s concert had been criticised on many grounds like

• Her costumes …a James Bond styled suit ,“R&B superhero” costume as well as a sexy leotard and garter number encrusted with Swarovski crystals !
• Her september 8th concert where she was booed by the audience for coming more than 2hrs late.
• Too much concentration on clothes , back dancers and less on Mariah’s singing .

But on the other hand Mariah’s concert’s were also filled with some lovely memories like:

• Her 7th september concert saw a varied of emotions like a lady who came on stage and asked Mariah to name her unborn child ….a marriage proposal and lot more.
• The concert again proved one thing that Mariah was back and wasn’t gonna fade away so easily.

As the concert reached it’s final lap the hysteria was clearly visible with a nearly full capacity audience and Mariah’s powerpacked voice…It was the perefct farewell to Mariah’s ‘adventurous’ concert. As Mariah prepares to take her concert overseas …….. plans of a Dvd about the concert to be released very soon ……..all that we can say is that Mariah All The Best for whatever “ADVENTURES” you plan ahead !

Great news for all you Mariah Fans……..you can now also be apart of Mariah’s adventures that too sitting right at home . Mariah is all set to launch a DVD called ‘Divarie’ which is a collection of memories of her latest concert …Adventures of Mimi ! The disk is to document highlights from her tour including all her diva like exploits while on the road.

The Adventures Of Mimi …a concert which was a follow up to Mariah’s album The Emancipation Of Mimi ……..managed to recieve a variety of reviews throughout. Alot of flak was recieved in regard to Mariah’s “over- the- top” costumes and the priority given to them over her actual performances. There were some bad incidents which may not be included in the DVD like the concert which took place on the 8th of October in California where the audience whowaited for almost 2hrs for the diva to arrive greated her with Boos… On the other hand there were some memorable incidents like the 7th October concert that took place on October 7th at L.A… Which was a mixed bag …a variety of emotions like a Marriage proposal … naming of an unborn baby and much more !The concert wound up yesterday ,10th october with the final concert in Arizona .Mariah is also planning to fly out of the country with her concert very soon.

A DVD of the entire concert…interesting! well till the DVD is release we can just “emancipate” it’s release !!!

Friday at the staples center was just another day in the office for Mariah Carey. The concert was a superb two-hour rendition of some of her most loved songs and Mariah was in her element of brilliance. However, there were some occurrences that you would not expect at a pop concert.

Firstly, Mariah made the atmosphere so emotional, that it caused one of the city’s top RJ’s –BigBoy - to get down on his knees and propose to his fiancée on stage. A magical way to propose, which the girl gladly excepted. Then there was this smoker who Mariah Carey noticed in the crowd. She was having a bit of a hard time because of his cigarette and she kindly requested it to be put out, which the bloke obligingly did.

Then to top it all off, there was this pregnant female who ran up to the stage and asked Mariah to name her unborn child. She would’ve named it Mariah if it were to be a girl. She is expecting a boy however. The wonder that is Mariah Carey, thought for a second, giving three suggestions: Roy (for her late dad), Trey (for backup singer Trey Lorenz) and Carey. The woman looked pleased and Carey it would be.

All we can say is that ‘CARRY’ on Mariah Carey !
